Homemade hummus

Nowadays hummus comes in so many varieties BUT it all started with a simple mix of chickpeas (garbanzo beans), tahini, lemon juice, olive oil and garlic. Once you’ve tasted a good homemade hummus, I garentee that you will never be able to eat the store bought ones ever again! Hummus is the perfect addition to any meditarranean style meal/diet and is so healthy! It’s perfect for keto diets as well! Check out my recipe but keep in mind that you can adjust the ingredients to achieve the taste you like!

Ingredients

  • 1 small can of chickpeas (drained and rinsed) – you can absolutely soak dried chickpeas overnight and use those and I encourage you to do so, but I just use canned because the ease of it fits my personal lifestyle!
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 1/4 good quality EVOO
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon or lime juice
  • A few tablespoons of water to adjust consistency
  • 1 pinch of salt and pepper (adjust to taste at the end)

Mix everything in a blender and taste! If it feels a little to dry, start by adding a little more lemon/lime juice and mix again until you achieve a brighter taste! If the taste is right and you just need to make it smoother, then add a tablespoon of water and keep mixing!

Enjoy with soft pita, pita chips, falafel, mixed grilled meats, veggies or any way you like!!!
